For this month’s Yinova Book Club, we will be reading “The Big Letdown” by Kimberly Seals Allers. This book outlines the sensitive topic of lactation and how certain external factors do a lot to influence how new parents think about it.
“Pediatricians say you should but it’s okay if you don’t. The hospital says, “Breast is best,” but sends you home with formula “just in case.” Your sister-in-law says, “Of course you should!” Your mother says, “I didn’t, and you turned out just fine.” Breastfeeding is a private act, yet everyone has an opinion about it. How did feeding our babies get so complicated?”
Join Yinova practitioner, Mary Hamawy, on August 25th at 6:30 pm for a discussion about how baby formula, family member opinions, and the unknown components of how to do it often get in the way of chestfeeding.
Our book club always offers a lively discussion, so please feel free to join us, even if you weren’t able to read the book in time.
The discussion is free to attend – you can sign up here. Once you have RSVP’d, you will receive an email with information on how to access this discussion online.
