We are grateful to have been able to see so many of you back in our clinic for acupuncture. We’re anticipating having our in-clinic bodywork sessions up and running within the next few weeks, and in the interim, we are excited to announce our newest offering, our Virtual Bodywork Program.
At Yinova, we use massage to address the root causes of various symptoms associated with many conditions that we see our patients face. In addition to general massage, which can help target pain & improve overall wellness, we also offer specialized massages like our reproductive health bodywork program. Now that we are able to work one-on-one with you from the comfort of your home, we can support you and your body—even from a distance.
Virtual Bodywork
Our new virtual program was created by the head of our bodywork department, licensed massage therapist and Doctor of Chinese medicine, Dr. Daryl Thuroff. This program has been designed to empower patients through guided self-massage techniques to engage their ability to be a part of their own healing process, and it can be used for a wide range of conditions and ailments. You will be involved in the learning process about your physical and your emotional body and you will be given insight into how your body reacts to stimuli.
Before the virtual bodywork session begins, our dedicated & knowledgeable bodywork team will walk you through a detailed intake process to be sure that they are providing you with the most individualized care.
Yinova’s Reproductive Health Bodywork Program
We are excited to be able to offer our exclusive Reproductive Health Bodywork Program virtually. Developed by Yinova Founder Jill Blakeway, the head of Yinova’s bodywork department Dr. Daryl Thuroff, and massage therapist & reproductive justice worker Somaliah Williams, this comprehensive approach to bodywork blends Eastern and Western modalities, making these sessions effective as individual treatments as well as the perfect accompaniment to your acupuncture treatment plan.
Massage can be used to address the root causes of various symptoms associated with many reproductive problems that we see our patients face. Self-massage is known to support and optimize the reproductive system. It helps to flush toxins and to restore the nutrients that help tone the tissue and balance the hormones. Our virtual bodywork program will guide you through the self-massage techniques that are appropriate for whichever stage the cycle you are in.
What other conditions & ailments can virtual bodywork be used for?
General Massage
In a general massage session, we focus on your body as a whole. We can focus on techniques that will promote relaxation and reducing muscle tension, which can lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and reduce the effects of stress. If there are specific areas of tension, we can use a more targeted approach and relieve things such as jaw pain, hip pain, or neck and shoulder tension.
Prenatal Massage
When pregnant, bodywork can be very helpful for boosting blood circulation for both parent and baby. Our massage therapists are trained to assist with the changing needs of a parent-to-be throughout each trimester of their pregnancy. Prenatal massage is helpful for low back pain, sciatica, and pelvic pain that many people experience during pregnancy. It can also bring relief for the digestion and elimination issues that come with a rapidly changing body. Since the virtual sessions rely completely on self-massage, which may become challenging the further along in your pregnancy you get, we can provide your partner with techniques to perform on you as well!
Postnatal Massage
With our new virtual offering, we offer ways to support your body after you give birth in the comfort of your home. It is a wonderful way to get your body back on track after giving birth. Postnatal massage sessions can focus on reducing stress, improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, and joint pain. Whether you delivered via Cesarean section or vaginally, we can show you self-massage techniques that can help support your body through the recovery process.
In-Clinic Bodywork
With Phase 3 of New York’s reopening plan underway, we are planning to offer in-clinic massage towards the end of July. With this in mind, we have created a safety protocol to protect both you and our bodywork team and we are taking strict precautions and following recommended guidelines to ensure that this experience is stress-free when the time comes. You can learn more about the general clinical precautions that we’re taking over on our safety page.
