Acupuncture for Pain

Acupuncture is incredibly versatile and effective when it comes to pain management. Any form of pain from sports injuries to migraines to menstrual cramps can be helped with acupuncture.

MIGRAINES/HEADACHES

Migraines and headaches can be associated with the menstrual cycle in women or have no pattern at all. A combination of acupuncture and massage can relieve most headaches during an episode. However, Chinese herbs, regular acupuncture, and dietary changes can help prevent migraines and headaches by correct the underlying imbalances creating them.

BACK PAIN

Acupuncture is widely accepted now as an effective treatment for back pain.  From acute sprains to long-term chronic back pain, it can be a safe and natural way to treat pain and prevent recurrence.

NECK AND SHOULDER TENSION

People who work on computers all day or experience intense stress often suffer from neck and shoulder tension. Our patients at the Yinova Center find that acupuncture is a great way to relieve muscle tension and spasms, promoting relaxation in any area of the body.

JOINT PAIN

Pain in any joint can be effectively treated with acupuncture. From pain in the fingers to the shoulders, knees, ankles, and elbows, acupuncture has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, promote healing, and stop pain.

ARTHRITIS

Acupuncture has been shown to reduce inflammation in the joints, which makes it a safe and effective treatment for suffers of both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It has also been shown to regulate the immune system, which can also aid in the management of rheumatoid arthritis.

SPORTS INJURIES

Quick healing time is crucial for an athlete with an injury. Adding acupuncture to your healing plan can increase recovery time, getting these patient back in the game faster. Acupuncture can also be used to strengthen and prevent repeat injuries when patients are asymptomatic. Many professional sports teams keep an acupuncturist on staff, but our team at the Yinova Center has experience treating injuries linked to a variety of different athletes from professional football, basketball, and baseball players to Broadway performers and ballet dancers.

NERVE DAMAGE

Nerve damage can result from traumatic injury, viral or bacterial infections, nutritional deficiencies, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, cancer treatments and other pharmaceutical drugs. Treatment for nerve damage should include addressing the underlying cause with your primary care physician if possible. These patients may also want to look into modifying the diet, discussing different pharmaceuticals with your doctor, or physical therapy. Acupuncture can help regenerate nerves and can be an effective adjunct treatment to these protocols or as a stand alone treatment if no other intervention is needed.
