Preparing
Preparing Your Body for Conception
I believe that healthy bodies are more likely to have healthy babies. As you begin to think about starting a family, I encourage you to take three months to get in great shape. Come and see us at the YinOva Center and get advice on diet, help with dropping your unhealthy habits and a reproductive tune-up. Think of it as a ‘holistic’ boot camp. (Without the drill sergeant ).
If you have been trying to conceive for a while with no success, you may be feeling dispirited and discouraged. Here at the YinOva Center all of our practitioners are experienced when it comes to treating infertility. For some of our patients, Chinese medicine is all they need to conceive for others it makes more sense to combine Eastern medicine with the best Western medicine has to offer. Either way we’re here to support you.
Just as a gardener enriches the soil before planting a seed, we believe in investing in your health and your body before you conceive. At YinOva, we have developed a three-month program to aid with conception. To start, we take a full health history and help you create a plan to increase your chances of conceiving. Depending on your personal needs, your regimen could include:
- exercise and dietary regimes to increase your fertility
- lifestyle adjustments to optimize your fertility: i.e. eliminating smoking or caffeine, nutritional advice and what foods to eat to increase your fertility
- If necessary and we can use acupuncture and Chinese herbs to regulate your cycle and enhance your reproductive system
If you are having trouble conceiving, we can help identify your obstacles and work with you to find a solution. As part of your program, we may well refer you to a gynecologist or reproductive endocrinologist to get more information. In our experience many women find that a few months of monitoring, careful timing, regular acupuncture and Chinese herbs do the trick. If not, we are here to help you through assisted reproductive techniques with supportive adjunctive care and advice.
