Staying Strong through Pregnancy and Delivery

I get a lot of pleasure out of helping women conceive and then taking care of them during their pregnancy. Watching them grow and change never fails to thrill me and I find myself saying to them, “do you realize how miraculous you are?” We treat our YinOva Moms-to-be for everything from morning sickness to back pain. Most of them sail through their pregnancies and at the end of nine months we are there to get them ready for labor.

When I was running the acupuncture program in a hospital we started to give acupuncture to women who were actually in labor. Our patients loved the treatment so much, that we ended up applying for a grant to study acupuncture during childbirth. That study is still going on so stay tuned for the results.

Our practitioners are available to reassure, support and guide you through each trimester. In the last few weeks of pregnancy, we help you get in shape for labor, softening your pelvic muscles and ligaments and giving you an energy boost before the big day. Many New York obstetricians send patients to the YinOva Center to use moxa to help turn breech babies. This is a technique that has been used for centuries and is gaining increasing respect here in the west as research shows that it has a 67% success rate. Recent blog entires about these issues:

The women of YinOva played a huge role in my pregnancy. In the early days I used acupuncture to treat my morning sickness. In my last trimester when my back hurt acupuncture provided relief and in the last month they used acupuncture to prepare me for labor. My daughter, Emily, was born after a relatively easy labor and some of the credit for that goes to the YinOva ladies. Thank you.
