We Care About Your Safety

When acupuncture and massage are practiced by well-trained and licensed practitioners both procedures are almost completely risk free. Likewise herbs that are prescribed by a board certified herbalist and come from a reputable supplier are safe. At the YinOva Center we are committed to your safety and we take every precaution to ensure that we provide a supportive and healing experience in a clean and peaceful environment.

Acupuncture Safety

We use sterile, single-use acupuncture needles which we dispose of as bio-hazardous waste after each treatment. We first clean any part of the body we may treat by swabbing with alcohol and then we painlessly insert the needle in a sterile manner. Acupuncture, like any medical procedure, should be practiced in an organized, clean environment and at our center each treatment room is designed to support a successful treatment. Herbal Safety

All of our practitioners are board-certified in herbology. In order to safely and effectively prescribe customized formulations, we all complete four years of post-graduate training and pass stringent exams before we earn our license and certification. We pay particular attention to herb-drug interactions and have earned the respect of many M.D.’s because of our cautious approach and unblemished safety record.

Sadly contamination is an issue for many brands of Chinese herbs and patients and their doctors rightly worry about their quality. However, at the YinOva Center, we use our skill and expertise as herbalists to research and source the very best quality herbal products. We are uncompromising in our standards and we proudly stand behind the herbs we prescribe. To read more about the quality of our Chinese herbs click here

Staff Training

At The YinOva Center all of our staff are trained to the highest standards. Our acupuncturists have an M.S. in Traditional Oriental Medicine and are all licensed and board-certified in both Acupuncture and Herbology. In addition, we have all taken and passed an exam in Clean Needle Technique which ensures that we practice the highest standards in the safe and sterile handling of needles. As a team, we average 10 years each in practice and each member of our staff was recruited because of their breadth of experience.

Our Massage therapist has 15 years of experience and is a licensed massage instructor as well. She has further training and experience in a variety of modalities.

All our staff (including administrative staff) are trained and certified in CPR by Clinic Director Noah Rubinstein (a former NYC paramedic).

As a group we take our continuing education very seriously and our practitioners enthusiastically study new advances in Chinese medicine both individually and together. An example of the extra training YinOva acupuncturists receive is outlined in this blog which describes a recent course that involvedĀ  40 hours of training in the treatment of hepatitis C. Our acupuncturists studied with a world famous expert in the field and passed a rigorous exam certifying them to treat this complex disease.

Cleanliness

It gives us great pleasure to read the reviews of our center and to hear from patients how much they appreciate our warm, peaceful and clean environment. It takes a committed group of people working behind the scenes to keep it this way. Dorothy, our YinOva Center cleaner, is rigorous in her high standards. She works diligently to keep our center sparkling and our environment sanitary. Our linens are laundered daily, and at higher temperatures than normal, to make sure they are fresh and completely contaminant-free.

All of our needles are sterile and our waste is disposed of safely. Our practitioners wash and sanitize their hands before and after each treatment and medicated antibacterial wipes are available all over the center so staff and patients can use them.
