Laurel Axen Carroll, M.S, L.Ac
Laurel Axen Carroll is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Board Certified Chinese Herbalist and a DONA Certified Labor Support Doula. After completing her Masters degree in Science and Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, Laurel studied advanced meridian palpation with renowned acupuncturist Dr. Wang Ju Yi at the Tibetan Hospital in Beijing, China.
Currently Laurel is a faculty member at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Manhattan where she teaches Obstetrics and Gynecology at graduate level and has worked as a Supervisor in the college clinic teaching students of Chinese medicine in a practical setting.
Laurel’s true passion lies in the treatment of female reproductive health. Using the traditional tools of Chinese Medicine such as acupuncture, dietary therapy and herbs, Laurel helps women transition through the fascinating and often challenging stages of conception, pregnancy, birth and beyond. Having had both a natural delivery and a birth via cesarean section, Laurel understands from personal experience the physical challenges facing pregnant women.
As a former personal trainer and pilates mat instructor, Laurel uses her extensive knowledge of movement to help people move more safely and efficiently to avoid repetitive damage.
Laurel completed her undergraduate studies at New York University and has traveled extensively through Southeast Asia and Latin America as a professional photographer. She is married with children and lives with her family in Rockaway Beach, New York where she is an avid student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and surfs whenever humanly possible.
